In My Own Words: I don't suppose it is often that people with a deep aversion to musicals will go out of their way to see - you guessed it - a musical. Moulin Rouge! is one of what I can only guess is a handful of films that can boast that particular success. Looking at the history of box office numbers for this film, one can truly understand the power of word-of-mouth advertising. |

The Roxburgh Rating: So well-played that the actor is barely recognizable behind the character, The Duke is a villain that a Roxburgh fan will want to feel sorry for, in spite of his obvious...flaws. After all, he, too, is looking for, above all things, love.
Sixty points for really showing his acting chops; fifteen points for hair that resembles David Spade's; ten points for the execution of "I just don't like people touching my things!"; negative twelve points for ruining a perfectly good smile with false teeth; twenty points for keeping a straight face through "Like a Virgin".
