Moulin Rouge! Review by Ashton-Marie a.k.a. IHeartDracula

In Moulin Rogue, we get to see our guy don a set of fake teeth and a God-awful muustache. Richard Roxburgh is the sniveling Duke, foil to Christian (Ewan MacGregor). Roxy's basis for his character is his obsession with Nicole Kidman's Satine, who doesn't seem to return his affection.

What the hell is Satine's problem? Why does she pick nasty Ewan over RR? Doesn't she see that mole on Ewan's forehead, the mole no amount of makeup can hide? People these days...

Moulin Rogue's voice talent is superb, but that doesn t make up for the crappy acting on most of the actor's parts. (Excluding Richard, of course, who plays his role to a T.) Once you get past all of Moulin Rouge's pretty colors, there's nothing but a crappy storyline and bad make-up. Only reccomended if you enjoy mediocre musicals...or Roxy screen time(and I know you do).

Score:2/5

Love always,
Ashton-Marie (iheartdracula to all you forumers!)

Moulin Rouge review by Lesley a.k.a. DraccyBride

Moulin Rouge! Is about a boy named Christian who wants to become a writer and breathe the fresh air of the Bohemian Revolution in Paris, France. He ends up getting caught in the middle of a play called "Spectacular, Spectacular!" as the writer. He is mistaken as the Duke (Richard Roxburgh) at the Moulin Rouge by Satine. They fall in love, but The Duke wants Satine for himself.

It's a musical, and I enjoy some songs, the main relationship can be corny at some times, but overall not untolerable. I rather enjoy singing along because I love musicals. Richard's hair was slightly dashing when he was angry, but those buck teeth and moustache just made me laugh. And his voice? It was rather cute, but nothing had ever made me laugh more than the "Like A Virgin" scene. Rox was top notch in his performance as usual, but the other actors seemed to lag behind him.

Score: 3.5/5
