Summary: It's been 5 years since Dracula was killed. Van Helsing comes every month with Carl to visit Anna's grave, but what happens when certain people are resurrected?
Anna's body for some resean did not burn in the fire as Gabriel and Carl rode away. Instead, a wind blew and all at once the fire died.
That night a storm blew in and toppled Anna's body into the water which later ened up in the bank of a river 3 miles away from Transylvania. Anna's body lay there; it was five years ago today that she was killed. A wind blew and the shrieks of an animal came near from the body of Anna. Slowly the calls were answered by cats. Dozens of cats - tabby cats, kittens - all around Anna's body.
They answered the call that they could not ignore. Slowly, the cats parted to let their mistress through ... the one who called them here.
She walked up to Anna's body, sat on top of her and looked into her dead brown eyes. It was the mau. an Egyptian cat that supposenly was the messenger of past and had magical powers. She bowed her head and nuzzled her nose at Anna's nose. She licked her lips as a mother cat licked her kitten. All of a sudden a cloud rolled in and covered the moon. The cat drew back and stared at the dead woman, then the moon shown again. There was a flash in Anna's eyes. Her eyes were no longer sightless. They were alive. Her eyes turned from chocolate brown to green; her pupils turned into slits.
She gasped as she breathed in fresh air. She sat up and looked around - the cats were gone. She looked up and saw a seagull flying, but it looked like it was so close. Its beating wings sounded liked a bell hit her on the head, causing her to hiss at the bird. She turned around and saw a crab crawling. She playfully played with it like a baby lion does with its brothers and sisters. She got into a crouch and started running to her town. She jumped onto her balcony to her room, stared at herself in the reflection of the window, cleaned her face a little with her hand, then broke her window, crawled into it and changed into clean clothing. Then she jumped near her bed and slept.
Gabriel and Carl are riding the now older Transylvanian horses that were given to them by Anna. He reached the town with Carl, both of them got off the horses and put them in a friend's stable. As Gabriel waited he saw a woman that was beuatiful. She went up to Carl hugged him and gave him a kiss on the cheek. She whispered something to him and left.
Carl turned around and saw Gabriel watching him with a smirk on his face. "So thats the mystery lady," Gabriel said. "Well, she's the one that I saved, remember?"
Carl answered back. gabriel laughed and teased him a bit.
***From the ashes Dracula rose with a scream, his brides following . He looked around as if he didn't remember anything, but then it came back to him. He yelled and punched the pillar which fell and broke to pieces, his brides seeing him and yelling "Master, youre back!"***
Anna groaned and sat up as she looked. "What happened," she asked herself aloud. She looked around and saw that it was midday. She got up showered and ate quickly because all she could think about was Gabriel. She stepped out of her house and saw the Egyptian mau; "Midnight" was her name.
Anna remembered that it was stuck on one of her window sills so she tried to save it but almost fell but was saved by her brother. At that point she forgot about Van Helsing. She grabbed the cat and said "You're probably the reason I can't remember any of yesterday or today. I'm taking you to your owner."
She scolded it, then looked at the name tag and started to that address. As she got there, she held the cat in one arm as she knocked on the door. An elderly woman answered it. "I think I found your can, Miss...?", Anna said.
"Olivia, Olivia Powers, and i think she found you instead of you finding her," Olivia answered back. "Please, come in, Princess Anna."
Anna hesitated and remembered about Gabriel. "But i can't stay," she said. Too late. Olivia left the door open for Anna and was already in her living room. Anna came in and started for the living room. There were so many cats, all of them that were following her rubbing themselves against her legs. When she was in the living room, Midnightjumped from her arms and onto Olivia's lap.
"Tea?" asked Olivia.
"Yes, please", Anna said. Anna started walking around the room and eventully on the furniture. She was telling Olivia about Dracula. Then she said "I can't remember anything else after I ... I ... kissed Gabriel. I started running and then nothing - only black."
Then she suddenly said "I'm sorry. I suppose you don't want to hear any of this, do you?"
"No, go on. I would like to hear it," Olivia said.
"I'm sorry, but I really need to go," Anna said.
"Very well. Come back when you're ready," Olivia said.
Anna nodded, then got up. She was at the door when Olivia called her.
"Huh?" She turned around and she thre a small ball at Anna. She instinctively caught it in midair and sniffed it. She began to rub it against her face. She realized what she was doing and stopped, looked at it, then looked questioningly at Olivia.
"Catnip," Olivia simply said.***The brides sobbed as they saw that all of their babies were destroyed. Dracula just stood there not saying a word or trying to comfort his brides. He just turned around and started walking into one of the halls, breaking things in the process and grabbing an ancient book from his library opening to find the ingredients for the werewolf antidote.***
Carl and Gabriel walked into a bar and sat at one of the tables. Gabriel felt this flash of pain as if he were transforming into the werewolf. He groaned painfully.
"Are you alright?", Carl asked worriedly.
"Ya..Ya, it's nothing," Gabriel said.
But sure enough the pain came and left again. He knew something was wrong. So he ran out of the bar as Carl yelled "Where are you going?"
"To Anna's grave," Gabriel yelled back.
As he crossed a bridge to cross the river that ran in the middle of the town he stopped dead...
***As Anna walked alone to the bridge she always went to when she was confused, angry or sad she got many stares and whispers from the villagers. She didnt understand why though, so she kept walking. When she got to the bridge she sucked her breath in and gasped - it was Gabriel.
Anna ran to Gabriel, hugging and almost knocking him down. Gabriel used his werewolf senses to see if she was a vampire. She wasn't, but he sensed that she was something else. He also had the sudden urge to attack her, but didn't.
"Anna, you're alive! How?...When?", he asked, but she wasn't listening. She was so happy to se him that she was barely listening.
"Gabriel, what happened? ... I can't remember anything that happened. Did you kill Dracula?"
He looked at Anna, kind of confused. "Anna, you were there. Don't you remember?"
She looked at him back and said, "No, I can't remember anything from yesterday or today."
"Yesterday? Anna, it's been five years," Gabriel told her.
"What? But it can't be," Anna said.
"Anna...you died five years ago. I killed you when you stuck the antidote in me," Gabriel told her.
As he and Anna walked down the street, this woman with lots of dogs came down the street near Anna. The dogs started barking at Anna, but she just stood there and hissed at them.
Gabriel just stared and shook his head just thinking that it was nothing. As they both walked further along, Anna stopped and looked at a window of a jewelry store. There was a necklace that had catlike claw on it that was made of diamonds. "Pretty", Anna Said.
"Very pretty", Anna said in a huskier voice. "Don't you think?" she said in her normal voice.
"Ya, it is pretty", Gabriel said. He said it in a voice that was like confusion and suspicion.
***"Marishka, Verona, Aleera, come here!", Dracula said. "Go find Gabriel … Don't let him know we're alive", Dracula said in a serious voice.
"Yes, Master", all three of them said.
Dracula already had a new antidote and was getting hungry. Of course, so were his other brides. "Wait a minute, my brides, before you leave. You may fee, but keep a low profile. Do not let anyone see you."
They nodded and left, Dracula following them to go feeding too.***
Anna let Carl and Gabriel sleep in the guest room while she slept in her own. She had weird dreams which seemed so real. She dreamt but then was woken up by a large party near by. Her snobby neighbors were partying, yet again. She was annoyed that she had to get up and go tell her neighbors to shup up. When she knocked on the door, she just waited.
Finally, the owner opened the door. "Ya? What do you want?"
"Emmm, I was just wondering…if you could turn the noise down a little?", Anna said.
"That all you want? Well, I tell you this. You go home and sleep." He slammed the door in her face.
She just stood there, staring at the door. Then, her expression changed from shock to anger. Her fingernails dragged against the wood of the man's door. She got up left back to her castle and went to her room. When she got there she took out this black leather outfit that was given to her by her cousin, Catrina. She took it out and put it on along with black leather gloves. "Oooo, pretty," she thought. Next, she went to the bathroom. There, she got a pair of scissors and started cutting off her curly hair. She cut it until she liked the way it looked.
She went to her window. She jumped of fearlessly and landed on her feet lightly. She sprinted to her neighbors mansion and jumped through one of his open windows.
"What the...?" Lots of people turned around to look at her. Anna cringed at the smell of beer, tobacco, and cheap whiskey. She walked around the dancing people who shrieked with enjoyment. She noted that it was also a costume party. She saw the band playing and growled a little at the loudness. she turned around and saw a girl drinking cheap whiskey. She went up to her, took to whole pack of whiskey and said, "This should be used for something more useful....like removing paint."
Anna gave her a mocking smile, then turned around and threw the pack of whiskeys at the playing band, hitting them and making glass splash everywhere, making them stop playing music.
"What the hell? YOU!", he yelled and pointed at Anna. "You're a fucking lunatic!"
Anna turned around and jumped on top of him, purring at him, then said or more like yelled to everyone in the room, "Hear this? This is called silence...this is all I wanted."
Getting off the guy, she kicked him in the crotch causing him to groan. She got up went to the front of his mansion turned around and said, "Thanks for the party."
Next, she thought, "Time to accessorize." She pounced on top of his mansion, running and swinging until she got to her destination. She jumped on a building, across the jewelry store, and stared at the robbers breaking in. "The only thing I hate more than shopping after hours…is competition."
She silently went into the jewelry store, putting on a black mask (like the one she was wearing when she danced with Dracula). She got behind one and blew him a kiss. The robber turned around; so did the other one with his back faced to him.
As they did, Catwoman climbed one of the pillars and got behind the third robber, watching everything, silently grabbing the necklace that was at the window. She put it on; then, running of all fours and kicking him through the glass window that he watching everything the to other robbers were doing. She did a back flip off the broken ledge onto the ground below.
"Who the hell are you?" one of the robbers asked.
"I am Catwoman," Anna answered back she started running to one of the robbers. He tried to get away but too late. She already kicked him into the furniture. Then, she turned around and did the same with the other one. She herd someone yell the police were there. The alarm had gone off. They threw the new stink bombs that were given to them by America.
Catwoman coughed and said, "Stink bombs are so unprofessional." She started running, kicked the cowering robber through the back door and fled into the night.
As Catwoman jumped from building to building she already knew that the brides were coming even before they could catch her scent. She jumped behind a pillar and waited until they came into view. As the brides landed on the same building she was at they turned back into human and questioned themselves on what that scent was. Little did they know that Dracula had followed them after they fed to see how strong they were.
Catwoman ran across the building, the brides' backs turned to her, jumping behind another block. Verona turned around and asked, "What was that?" The other two turned around and looked. Even with their good eyes they could not see Catwoman. But they could smell her. They couldn't pinpoint where she was though. Catwoman used her catsense to pick out which bride was the weakest. (When Catwoman uses her catsense she would see through walls and focus on the weakest prey.)
Aleera was the weakest. She may have been the most beautiful but was the weakest. As the brides turned back around and walked along the building Catwoman stalked Aleera. She mocked her moves so good that she was literally Aleera's second shadow. Catwoman stop after the brides took another few steps.
"Ready for the cat's play?", she thought as she cracked her whip.
All the brides turned around quikly and hissed at her. But Catowman did the first move faster. She did a forward jump and kicked Verona in the stomach with her heals (ouch), sending her flying, Marishka shrieking at her.
"Who are you?", Aleera screamed at Catwoman.
"Catwoman," she said. Catwoman did these type of karate and other types of fighting; she completly outmaneuvered the brides. They did not know who she was gonna attack next.
She laughed at them and showed off her curves saying, "I'm just a kitten, a heart", and other things; also, suggesting how they should attack her and taunting them.
They had had enough. Catwoman was way more than they could handle.All three shrieked, turned into their bat forms. and fled.
Dracula had watched the whole thing. "She is so mysterious," he thought. "She's all of my brides in one. Beautiful, dangerous,and strong." He wanted to know more about her.
Catwoman knew he was there, too. She also got through the fight without a scratch or without harming the necklace. She certainly scratched the brides badly, though.
By the time Anna was done eating, Gabriel and Carl had barely gotten dressed as they settled themselves at the table. "Where are you going?", Gabriel asked.
"To a friend's house" she said as she hurried pas him and out of the castle onto the street with early morning workers. She got to Olivia's house in about half an hour. She knocked on the door and waited.
"What the hell is happening to me!?", Anna half yelled and asked Olivia.
"Come here," Olivia said. She led Anna to her library room. There were so many books and ancient artifacts! Olivia got a cerain old looking book. She opened it to a page that showed an Egyptian painting. Midnight jumped on the same table where the book was. She looked at the statue of the Egyptian cat.
It shocked her; the statue looked just like Midnight!
"Bast or Bastet, Egyptian goddess of cats..protects women, and cats", Olivia said.
"I-I dont know what this has to do with me,"Anna replied.
"Do you want me to tell you what happened to you the day Gabriel killed Dracula?"
"Yes," Anna said.
Olivia led Anna onto a balcony that was in her library. When they got to the middle they stopped and Olivia said, "You died, Anna!You died!"
"What!? That's impossible...I'm standing right here!", Anna answered back, shocked.
"You died."
"You're crazy. You're a crazy cat lady."
But at that point everything came flooding back - Gabriel killing her, she being revived, the cats, the jewlery store, the brides. Olivia pushed Anna off the balcony, Anna yelled but that turned into a growl. Anna spun around in mid air and landed on her feet and hands.She turned around still in the same position and looked at Olivia. Olivia threw these papers at her.
"Look," she said.
Anna sat down and looked at the photos. They were pictures, paintings, carvings of past cat women. There was one that said "Wanted" and a drawing of a woman, only the jaw was human and the upper part was cat.
"You were given a second chance. You were chosen by Bast herself."
"But if I'm not Anna anymore..."
"But you are! You are Anna Valerious." Olivia turn and grabbed something. It was a mask...an Aztec cat mask. She gave the mask to Anna. "You're a cat woman; you are not the first. There have been more before you. Use your power wisely...And one more thing. To have power is to have freedom. The hardest part about leaving a cage is desiring to leave it."
Anna stared at the mask. Suddenly she became aware that all of her senses were heightened. Her hearing was way better; she could be very flexible. She got up an followed Midnight. She jumped from furniture to furniture, like Midnight.
Anna stopped, grabbed the mask, looked at Olivia, and said, "Thank you."
Anna jumped out of one of Olivia's windows.
