Van Helsing Reviews
Van Helsing Review by Lesley a.k.a. DraccyBride
A man named Van Helsing (Hugh Jackman), is out to do the work of God, by destroying all evil in the world. A great task is ahead of him, for Dracula (Richard Roxburgh) has plagued the lands of Romania for centuries and one family, who is destined to kill him or be sent to hell, is dwindling in remaining blood lines. Anna and Velkan Valerious are all they have left, and if they are killed before Dracula is destroyed their entire family will be sent to Hell, but if they succeed they will enter the gates of St. Peter into Heaven. Van Helsing sets off to Transylvania to kill Dracula but he is not welcomed. Velkan had already been "killed" by the werewolf so Anna isn't ready to just say "hello" to any new passer-by. Dracula's three brides, Aleera, Marishka, and Verona, then attack Anna and Van Helsing and the entire village. Dracula sends Velkan, now a werewolf, to find out who the newcomer is but is unsuccessful. Van Helsing and Anna set out to Frankenstein's castle, a scientist who created a monster but was killed a year ago (by Dracula at the beginning of the film), to find Dracula. Dracula, it turns out, is trying to bring his children to life and is going to use Velkan to do so, but it fails and after a confrontation with Van Helsing, he's not very happy. Carl (David "Daisy" Wenham) discovers only a Werewolf can kill a vampire, and it turns out after a viscious fight on horse carriage Van Helsing has been bitten. Anna is taken and Dracula dances with her at the masquerade ball on All Hallow's Eve. Van Helsing rescues her before Dracula can turn her into a new bride and they escape. Van Helsing returns through a mystic mirror that leads to Dracula's castle and he takes Dracula on in a full monster fight.. Hellbeast vs. Werewolf. Dracula is bitten and dies, but Anna is killed from the impact after injecting Van Helsing with the cure. Her family enters heaven and Van Helsing rides off into the distance.
In my own words this movie is just..WOW! Rox looks incredible, and VERY sexual. The dancing scene with him and Kate is a must see for anyone who has yet to see it. You just can't miss the sexual tension there! You could cut it with a butter knife. I started to watch it as a Hugh fan from X-men 2 and ended it as a completely devoted Rox fan, but even before hand I liked Rox lots from former movies such as MI:2 and LXG, but Van Helsing was the biggest light switch I ever came across. The movie's full of non-stop action, intense cinematography, corny-great dialogue, amazing Rox moments (such as the dancing with himself!! oh my dear lord!), and beautiful scenery and color schemes. I can say Van Helsing is the BEST Rox movie I've seen yet, but that could change after Christmas, who knows, but I never tire of it and Dracula is a sex icon.... or the captain of the girl's Net Ball Team.... DO NOT overlook the commentary whatEVER you do... it's completely hysterical and Rox cracks me up.
Score: 5/5
